Survey: Flannery O'Connor Quote

This quote stopped me in my tracks when I read it a week and a half ago. It's been ringing in my ears ever since.

"Your beliefs will be the light by which you see, but they will not be what you see, and they will not be a substitute for seeing."
-Flannery O'Connor
I'm curious - what does it mean to you?

  1. Wow, that's a toughie. I wonder if it means what you believe is not necessarily truth (because of how we often contort things to fit what we want), and that we should continue to keep our eyes open to other things around us, rather than closing ourselves into the comfiness of what we feels fits us perfectly.
Just a stab in the dark.
